Teachers of Nyamira county rally behind governor Amos Nyaribo

 

While appreciating the good work done by the governor the teachers are saying that Governor Nyaribo needs to be accorded a fresh term in office.

In his short time in office, the education sector has seen tremendous positive impact. For instance, the ECDE teachers who have been sidelined for quite a long time can now breathe a sigh of relief after the county government commenced a program of employing them on permanent and pensionable terms. He has been consistent in ensuring that our young children in the pre-primary level are able to receive quality educational foundation which will catapult them through the entire education system.

The office of the first lady has occasionally moved round ECDE centers with a view of assessing the learning conditions of the children and encouraging the teachers in the field. The first lady who at one time was a high school teacher has a clear understanding of the teaching profession and she is determined to see an improvement in regard to the educational standards in the county.

The governor occasionally conducts meetings with teachers as stake holders in the education sector with an intention of understanding the challenges they go through in the course of discharging their duties and the probable interventions. The teachers have proposed for the county government to increase the bursary kitty to enable more of needy learners access education. The teachers have also proposed to the county government to introduce scholarship programs for those teachers wishing to farther their studies.

Other spillover effect to the education sector include the drilling of bore holes in every ward which means most schools will have access to water. Most roads have been upgraded to all weather roads and some like the Nyamira backstreet tarmacked by the county government, meaning more schools are now being accessed with ease.

His excellence governor Amos Nyaribo is a man who talks less but listens more, always firm but fair. With the achievements that we are able to realize in his short period of time in office, it demonstrates that he is capable of transforming Nyamira county not only in the education sector but also in all other sectors.
